Laura Stevenson

Mrs. Stevenson died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 23, 1905, in Ottawa, Kan., the daughter of Fred and Rose (Tolle) Hetzel. She grew up and attended school in Ottawa. She moved to Buffalo in 1939.

Mrs. Stevenson owned and operated Buffalo Skating Rink with her husband from 1942 to 1970. She had been active at Engles Senior Center for the past few years.

She married Chester Stevenson on July 8, 1925, in Princeton, Kan. He died in 1987.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Martin L. “Pepper” Davies, Buffalo; a daughter-in-law, Joan Stevenson, Lawrence, Kan.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Loretta Davies; a son, Leon Stevenson; and two granddaughters died earlier.

Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home in Buffalo was in charge of arrangements.
