The University Bridge Club announced the winners of its Jan. 11 game. Al and Carol Smith were hosts.

Blue winners were Tom Waller, first; Paul Jordan, second; Al Smith, third; Carl Schaake, fourth; and Henry Wigington, fifth.

Pink winners were Cathy Waller, first; Mildred Hoffman, second; Jane Golden, third; Gini Wigington, fourth; and Carolyn Jordan, fifth.

The club also announced the winners of its Jan. 18 game. Hank and Dottie Miller were hosts.

Blue winners were Ed Stellmacher, first; Bud Lukens, second; Henry Wigington, third; John Golden, fourth; and Marian Davis, fifth.

Pink winners were Marty Hartman, first; Mildred Hoffman, second; Jane Golden, third; Betty Lukens, fourth; and Carolyn Jordan, fifth.

The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Jan. 15 for its weekly game. Four pairs competed in a game that used a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game. Artie Shaw and Harriet Olson placed first in the event.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Jan. 17 for its weekly game. Seven and a half tables competed in a stratified game that used a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Patt Radford and Artie Shaw claimed first place in A. Chris Lane and Shirley Reese placed second in A and first in B. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed third in A and second in B. Patti Griffitts and Shari Kretzel took first in C.

Competing East-West, Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro took first place in A. Virginia Seaver and Klee Zaricky placed second. Nita Scales and Shirley Vaughn took third in A and first in B. Judy Bevan and Bob Anderson finished second in B and first in C.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday for its weekly game. The stratified game attracted 11 tables and used a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

Sitting North-South, Clyde Romer and Steve Phelps claimed first place in A and B. They were followed by Bill Schutzel and Jerry Sloan. Don Brennaman and Olivier Urruty placed third in A and second in B. Vince Russo and Terry placed fourth in A and third in B. Bob Anderson and Judy Bevan placed fifth in A, fourth in B and first in C. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough took sixth place in A.

Competing East-West, Mary Beth Treece and Bobbi McCorkle placed first in A, B and C. Jiambo Zhang and Harry Shaffer took second in A and B. Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman placed third. Patt Radford and John Hickey came in fourth. Mary Fenlon and Donna Munson placed fifth. They were followed by the pairs of Dave Piro and Donna Johnson, and Julia Brooks and Mona Bell.
