Ruth Marie King

Mrs. King died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center in Shawnee.

She was born March 7, 1912, in Lawrence, the daughter of Frank and Carrie (Mathias) Jahns. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1930.

Mrs. King and her husband were charter members of Shawnee Country Club in Topeka. She was also a member of 12 Belles Bridge Club from its founding in the 1950s until 2000.

She married John T. King on Oct. 1, 1938, in Troy. He died Dec. 21, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy King, Aurora, Colo., and Jeanne Hedrick, Shawnee; two sisters, Helen Rice and Marguerite Parnell, both of Lawrence; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee is in charge of arrangements.
