Nat E. Gillihan

? Services for Nat E. Gillihan, 88, Edgerton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Assumption Catholic Church in Edgerton. Burial will follow in St. Columbine Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton.

Mr. Gillihan died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Medicalodge in Gardner.

He was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Lenexa, the son of Martin and Floy M. (Edgington) Gillihan. He grew up in the Edgerton area and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1935.

Mr. Gillihan served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Civil Construction Corps and helped build Gardner and Lonestar lakes. He worked for Delco Battery in Olathe for 20 years before he retired in 1980 and also installed conveyor belts all over the country. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Edgerton, Circle W Club in Wellsville and Wellsville American Legion Post 194. He was an honorary basketball coach in 1983 for Wellsville High School in the sub-state quarterfinals.

He married Mary Kathryn Shay on April 17, 1941, in Edgerton. She died Jan. 22, 1999.

Survivors include four daughters, DeEllen Rice, Topeka, Kathy Ingalls, Natalie May and Debbie Thomson, all of Wellsville; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today.
