Douglass services

Graveside services for Rose Lee Douglass, 85, Independence, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Douglass died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, Mo. She was cremated.

She was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Topeka, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Wheat) Groves. She attended Kansas State Teachers College, Kansas University and Washburn University, where she received her master’s degree in education.

Mrs. Douglass taught school for 35 years in Lawrence and Perry.

She married Clarence “Doug” Douglass on May 8, 1937, in Burlington. He died Jan. 10, 1996.

Survivors include a son, Clarence “Terry” Jr., Richmond, Texas; a daughter, Dolores Kuhnert, Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Assn., sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
