Area Boys Roundup: Effingham hammers P-L, 59-39

? Spencer Kennedy scored 15 points for Perry-Lecompton in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the McLouth Invitational, but the Kaws couldn’t compete with Effingham’s offensive effort and lost, 59-39.

Adam Painter and Jacob Landis added six points each in the loss for Perry-Lecompton (2-7).

The disparity came at the free-throw line. Effingham scored 23 charity points, while Perry-Lecompton sank only 8 free throws.

Perry-Lecompton will play Shawnee Maranatha at 7 p.m. Friday at McLouth.

McLouth — Four McLouth players scored in double digits Tuesday and the Bulldogs sank six three-pointers, helping the host school advance.

Topeka Heritage Christian went on an 18-9 run in the second quarter, but McLouth came back strong with 39 second-half points.

McLouth (5-4) will play Topeka Cair Paravel at 6 p.m. Friday.
