Sheldon L. Mundy Sr.

? Services for Sheldon L. Mundy Sr., 83, Eudora, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.

Mr. Mundy died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Burlingame, the son of Charles F. and Geneva (Russell) Mundy. He grew up and attended schools near Williamsburg. He also had lived in Ottawa.

At age 13, he began working in coal mines near Williamsburg. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator and retired from Kellogg and Clark Construction Co. in the early 1970s.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 995th Aircraft Division in 1942-43.

He married Wanda Bittenbender on Oct. 25, 1940, in Ottawa. She died Sept. 8, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Terry, Eudora, and Rick, Salina; one daughter, Peggy Thompson, Ottawa; two sisters, Faye Service, Overbrook, and Lois Bushnell, Lawrence; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A son, Sheldon Mundy II, died earlier.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet them from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday.
