Eberle-Johnson

Courtney Eberle and Anthony Johnson, both of Manassas, Va., were married Nov. 20, 2002, in the Bahamas, with the Rev. Warren Anderson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Margo Eberle, Topeka. The groom is the son of Andrew Johnson, Marlboro, Md., and Peggy Johnson, Herndon, Va.

Matron of honor was Margo Eberle. Best man was Andrew Johnson. Bridesmaid was Peggy Johnson. Groomsman was Jeff Eberle.

A reception followed the ceremony on the beach at the Wyndham Hotel in the Bahamas.

The bride is a graduate of Topeka High School and Hairbender, a school of hairstyling. The former Lawrence resident worked at Becky’s Salon and Day Spa for about five years. She works for PR & Partners.

The groom is a graduate of Oakton High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in software engineering at Virginia Tech University. He works for Science Applications International Corp.

The couple reside in Manassas, Va.

Bitner-Hoffman

Jaime Kristine Bitner and Jacob David Hoffman, both of Steamboat Springs, Colo., were married Aug. 17, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Steamboat Springs, with the Rev. Larry Oman officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Cherly Bitner, Baltimore, and Diana and Curt Forry, Dallastown, Pa. The groom is the son of David and Donna Hoffman, Lawrence.

Matron of honor was Heather Bitner. Best man was Justin Hoffman. Bridesmaid was Janell Hoffman. Groomsman was John Bitner.

Flower girl was Kara Krannawitter. Ring bearer was Samuel Hoffman. Andrea Thumser was usher.

A reception was at Hazi’s Gondola Restaurant on Thunderhead Mountain in Steamboat Springs.

The bride is a Dallastown area high school graduate. She received a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from Pennsylvania State University. She is a sales reporting systems analyst at the Sheraton Steamboat.

The groom is a Lawrence High School graduate. He is a maintenance manager at Mountain Castles.

The couple reside in Steamboat Springs.

Ryan-Abplanalp

Allison Ryan and Todd Abplanalp, both of Lawrence, were married Aug. 31, 2002, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Mitchell and H. Sharon Howell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Nancy Ryan, Clay Center. The groom is the son of Steve and Jane Abplanalp, Topeka.

Matron of honor was Allison Abplanalp. Best man was Zach Collins. Bridesmaids were Kristen Ryan, Allison Abplanalp, Austyn Martoia, Sunny Hampton and Suzanne Harth. The groomsmen were Grant Ryan, Ryan Riggin, John Walter, Brian Wanamaker and Cory Forbes.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Lawrence Holidome.

The bride is a Clay Center Community High School graduate. She received a bachelor’s degree in business management at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a marketing and development specialist for Kansas Action for Children.

The groom is a Washburn Rural High School graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental policy at Kansas University. In May, he plans to receive a master’s degree in urban planning from KU and a juris doctorate from KU’s School of Law.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

Carl-Garcia

Traci Carl and Jorge Garcia, both of Mexico City, were married Nov. 16, 2002, in Acapulco, Mexico, at the Los Famingos Hotel with Sarah Silver presiding.

The bride is the daughter of Kay Carl, Lawrence, and Bob Carl. The groom is the son of Dolores Garcia, Mexico City.

Anita Lubensky and Andrew Delhoff were witnesses along with relatives and friends.

A reception followed the ceremony at the hotel.

The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She is an international reporter for the Associated Press in Mexico City. The groom is a reporter for the Financial Times in Mexico City.

The couple reside in Mexico City.

Alexander-Snyder

Darya Ann Alexander, Farmington Hills, Mich., and Matthew Lane Snyder, Ann Arbor, Mich., were married Oct. 26, 2002, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Jim Shaughnessy officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John and Maria Alexander, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Donald and Karen Snyder, Topeka.

Matrons of honor were Eileen Sidman and Amy Weininger. Best man was Bradley Snyder. Bridesmaids were Allison Wardell and Jennifer Wardell. Groomsmen were Michal Alexander, Christopher Weininger and Patrick Han.

The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School, Washington University in St. Louis and Kansas University Medical School. She did three years surgery residency at Providence Hospital in suburban Detroit. She is a second-year resident in family medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The groom is a graduate of Topeka West High School, Washburn University and Kansas University Medical School. He is a fifth-year resident in pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor.

The couple reside in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Mary Loveland, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Larry and Jane Koster, Great Bend.

The groom is a 1998 graduate of Great Bend High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in organismal biology from Kansas University in May 2002. He is a student at Kansas University Medical Center.

Seely-Paynter

Shari Seely, Tonganoxie, and Kenneth Paynter, Overland Park, were married Oct. 26, 2002, at Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, Mo., with Shirley Halpain officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Harold and Joan Seely, Tonganoxie. The groom is the son of the late Edwin and Patsy Paynter.

Rothwell-Woytinek

Amanda Rothwell and Aloise Joe Woytinek II, both of Lawrence, were married March 28, 2002, at the Franklin County Courthouse in Ottawa with Judge Thomas Sachse officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Pamela Rothwell, Lawrence, and the late Glenn Rothwell. She graduated from Lawrence High School and is employed by NCS Pearson in Lawrence.

The groom is the son of Geraldine Mathis, Wheatfield, Ind., and Aloise Joe Woytinek, North Judson, Ind. He graduated from Westcentral High School in Francesville, Ind. He is self-employed.
