Phyllis Anne Johnson

? Memorial services for Phyllis Anne Johnson, 73, Pittsburg, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Private family burial will precede the service in Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg.

Mrs. Johnson died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at her home.

She was born March 7, 1929, in Lawrence, the daughter of Herbert Leroy and Clara Juanita (Hughes) Jones. She attended Lawrence schools and graduated from the School of Journalism at Kansas University in 1951. She lived in Lawrence, Augusta, Pittsburg, St. Louis and Prairie Village before returning to Pittsburg in 1971.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Progressive Study Chapter, Chapter IQ of the PEO Sisterhood and was a former member of Mount Carmel Hospital Auxiliary. She was a librarian for the Crawford County Genealogical Society.

She married Windell J. Johnson on March 4, 1950, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Christopher Paul Johnson, Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Susan Elisabeth West, Girard; her mother, Lawrence; two sisters, Marian Abegg and Susan McClintic, both of Lawrence; a brother, Alan Jones, Pioneer, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg.
