Browne takes issue with ‘Prince’

Los Angeles — Jackson Browne is demanding that the TBS Superstation not rebroadcast “America’s Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story” until scenes are deleted that the rock star says defame him.

The movie, which premiered Sunday on the cable station, shows Kennedy rescuing Daryl Hannah after Browne allegedly beat her. The actress is the former girlfriend of both Browne, 54, and Kennedy, who died in a plane crash in 1999 at 38.

“Mr. Browne has never assaulted Daryl Hannah,” the singer-songwriter’s publicist, Michael Jensen, said Wednesday. “Ms. Hannah never filed a police report claiming such an assault and Mr. Browne was never arrested for or charged with such an assault.”

Warrant issued for Bobby Brown

Does Bobby Brown think it’s his prerogative to show up in court only when he chooses? Six years ago, Brown was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and when he failed to appear in a Georgia court to answer the charges, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

That warrant was still outstanding, Atlanta police discovered, when they arrested him two months ago on charges of possession of marijuana and speeding. Brown was due in court Monday to face the 1996 charges but again failed to show, reports Entertainment Weekly. As a result, a DeKalb County judge issued a bench warrant for the singer’s arrest.

State Court Judge Wayne M. Purdom also said Brown’s performance at Monday’s American Music Awards in Los Angeles showed he violated his bond. Brown, whose wife is singer Whitney Houston, had been ordered not to leave the state.

Brown’s lawyer, Xavier Dicks, said Brown would turn himself in today.

Dog’s death cancels PETA ad

Newark, N.J. — An animal rights group canceled an ad campaign targeting the Environmental Protection Agency because the administrator’s pet dog has died.

The Scottish terrier, Coors, was to be pictured on billboards by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to protest the agency’s use of animals to test the toxicity of certain chemicals.

PETA canceled the campaign after EPA Administrator Christie Whitman notified the Norfolk, Va.-based group that Coors had been euthanized because she was suffering from cancer and was not responding to treatment.

Madam movie in the works

Los Angeles — Convicted Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss has sold the rights to her life story to Paramount Pictures, which is developing a movie.

Fleiss sold the rights for an undisclosed sum, said Larry Kennar, who plans to co-produce the film with the tentative working title “Pay the Girl.”

“All of the madam movies have been like B-level porn or they’ve been boring,” Fleiss told Daily Variety this week. “The world I was living in was not boring.”

Fleiss declared bankruptcy after she was released from prison in 1999. She served 21 months for conspiracy, tax evasion, laundering call-girl profits and attempted pandering.
