Government produces preparedness guide

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has put together “Are You Ready? A Guide to Citizen Preparedness,” which gives facts on disaster survival techniques, disaster-specific information and tips on how to prepare and respond to natural and manmade disasters.

The guide outlines how to prepare a disaster supply kit, plan for people with disabilities, locate and evacuate to a shelter and deal with family pets.

It also gives details on the agency’s Citizen Corps initiative, which encourages citizens to safeguard their community, and Community Emergency Response Team training program.
