Bill Newman

Mr. Newman died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Tyrone, Okla., the son of Noah P. and Annie E. (Carson) Newman.

Mr. Newman worked at Lawrence Paper Company for many years and then in maintenance at Quaker Oats until he retired. He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 309.

He married Virginia Kretsinger. She died earlier. He married Luejutta Bush on March 14, 1980, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Janet Barrick, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Tara Link, Lawrence; a stepson, Charles Beer, West Palm, Fla.; two brothers, Lee, Baldwin, and John, Lawrence; three sisters, Vera Ulrich, Iola, Doris Norwood, Lawrence, and Mary Hutcherson, Overland Park; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
