Doktor services

Memorial services for Czeslaw Jan Doktor, 55, Lawrence, will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lawrence Public Library.

Mr. Doktor died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 28, 1947, in Poland, the son of Jan Doktor and Helena Lenart. He grew up in Otwock, near Warsaw, where he completed elementary and high school. He earned a master’s degree in psychology at Warsaw University. He immigrated to the United States in 1981 and lived in Los Angeles until he moved to Lawrence in 1992.

Mr. Doktor served in the Polish navy after high school. He received a master’s degree from Kansas University in 1996 while working for Kansas Correctional Facilities as a psychotherapist. He worked at Lansing Correctional Facility at the time of his death.

He married Anna Popiel on July 23, 1988, in California. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Alexander, and a daughter, Monika Doktor, both of the home.

The family suggests memorials to the Czeslaw J. Doktor Children’s Educational Fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
