Vera Jean Bylaska
Lecompton ? Services for Vera Jean Bylaska, 56, Lecompton, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.
Mrs. Bylaska died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Holton, the daughter of John William McAlexander and Lura Irene Holloway.
She graduated as valedictorian from Lecompton High School in 1964 and graduated from Kansas State University with a major in English in 1968.
Mrs. Bylaska worked at Kansas University. She was a member of Lecompton United Methodist Church and a member of the Lecompton Historical Society.
She married William Paul Bylaska on Feb. 21, 1971, in Lecompton. They later divorced.
Survivors include her mother; two sons, William Paul Bylaska Jr., Lawrence, and John Robert Bylaska, Lecompton; and a sister, Janice McAlexander, Lawrence.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to either the church or the Lecompton Historical Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
