KU spring enrollment tops 25,000

Enrollment at Kansas University’s Lawrence campus has topped 25,000 for the first time during a spring semester, according to enrollment information released Wednesday.

There are 25,156 students on the Lawrence campus this semester.

Overall, enrollment at KU increased 2 percent from this time last year to 27,463. That’s just short of the record spring enrollment of 27,569 set in 1993.

There were 28,849 students enrolled at KU last fall. Spring enrollments are typically smaller than fall enrollments because some students graduate in December, but fewer start school.

However, the drop-off in students between semesters this school year was less than in some years. KU has about 95 percent of its student body this spring compared to the fall, which is the third-highest percent in the last 20 years.
