Broken Arrow celebrates anniversary with speaker

Motivational speaker Zacharie Clements will rely on humor, role-playing and drama to get at the nitty-gritty of what’s happening in U.S. schools.

Clements’ speech 7 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence High School’s auditorium is part of the 35th anniversary of Broken Arrow School, 2704 La. It is free and open to the public.

Clements endured an orphaned, Depression-era childhood, trouble with the law and poor performance in public schools before earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees at University of New York at Albany and a doctorate at University of Buffalo.

A frequent public speaker, Clements will share his perspective on society’s changing attitudes about schools and celebrate what is right about education in a program called “Miracles Begin With You.”

“Dr. Clements is a proud product of the American public education system and a strong advocate for today’s educators,” said Larry Bakerink, Broken Arrow’s principal.
