Kansas University officials said they would have the 1978 commencement ceremonies in Memorial Stadium despite renovation work under way. Some had feared liability problems but officials said the work would be far enough along to allow the ceremonies there.

IN 1903

From the Lawrence Daily World of Feb. 16, 1903: “This paper has all along contended that Kansas University was making a mistake in asking for a gymnasium building. The Legislature will probably give the school one building but it will be a law building. The gymnasium can wait because money is needed elsewhere. It does not pay the university to overreach and KU is in grave danger of doing this. There ought to be a united effort for a law building and let it go at that.”
