Franci Zender Chaffin
Services for Franci Zender Chaffin, 42, Lawrence, will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Chaffin died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at KU Med in Kansas City, Kan., after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1960, in Radford, Va., the daughter of Paul E. and Sandra (Wickham) Zender. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1978 and from Kansas University with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1985. She was a member of the LHS and KU marching bands.
Mrs. Chaffin was a teacher at First Presbyterian Church Pre-School in Lawrence. She was also a Mary Kay consultant.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday and Vacation Bible School teacher and director. She also was a member of Trinity choir, Trinity Learning Committee, Worship and Music Committee and was the church’s “LINK” coordinator. She was a member of Common Thread, a local Christian band.
She married Christopher Chaffin on July 30, 1983, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Chelsea Chaffin of the home; a son, Paul Chaffin of the home; her parents, Lawrence; and a sister, Mary Paul Zender Paden, Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the Educational Fund for Paul and Chelsea Chaffin, the church, or First Presbyterian Church Pre-School, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
