Wildgen gets good marks in evaluation

City Manager Mike Wildgen got good marks from the Lawrence City Commission Wednesday during his annual job evaluation.

Commissioners unanimously voted to give Wildgen a 3 percent raise in his base salary, to $117,616 a year, and a 3 percent raise in his “deferred compensation” retirement plan, to $8,710 a year. He continues to receive a car allowance of $416 a month.

The evaluation went better for Wildgen than last year, when commissioners gave him six months to improve the “user friendliness” of City Hall. They never specified consequences, but it was widely believed at the time that Wildgen’s job was in danger.

Not this year.

“We think he’s made a lot of progress toward meeting our goals,” Mayor Sue Hack said.
