Hazel G. Marquette

Graveside services for Hazel G. Marquette, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Marquette died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Lakeview Manor.

She was born March 10, 1909, in Lockwood, Mo., the daughter of Joseph William and Gertie Mable (Polston) Marlow. She completed her associate’s degree in teaching at Kansas University. She had lived in Lawrence since 1942.

Mrs. Marquette was a homemaker and taught children with disabilities.

She married Robert Marquette on April 29, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Nov. 23, 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Gertrude Calvert, Lake Quivira; three sons, Robert Marquette Jr., Granbury, Texas, Joseph Albert Marquette, Cleveland, and Carl Kenneth Marquette, Imperial Beach, Calif.; three brothers, Donald Kenneth Marlow, Joseph Marlow and Howard Nelson Marlow; four sisters, Wilma DePee, Sarah Tindill, Beulah Creason and Irene Gordon; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to Children’s Mercy Hospital, sent in care of the mortuary.
