Registration deadline at 5 p.m. for city, school primary

If you want to vote in Lawrence’s city and school board primaries, the deadline for getting your name in the registration books is coming soon — the books close at 5 p.m. Monday for the Feb. 25 primaries.

“The registration books are closed so we can prepare voting rosters to go to the precincts on election day,” Douglas County Clerk Patty Jaimes said.

Jaimes didn’t have a full count on how many people are registered, but the last count, on Jan. 21, showed there were 56,397 voters in Douglas County, she said.

Voter registration will remain open for county voters outside the city of Lawrence and Lawrence School District 497, she said.

Jaimes said her office in the courthouse at 1100 Mass. St. will be open until 5 p.m.

You can also download a voter registration form online (download a form) and turn it in by 5 p.m. Monday.
