IN 1978 – There was to be no increase in local taxicab fares until the two Lawrence firms submitted a complete, certified audit, city commissioners decided. An appeal had been made by cab management for approval of an increase in fares to meet rising costs and keep profitability reasonable.

A second postponement was ordered in extradition proceedings for two men held in Denver for murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges in the death of Samuel Norwood, 30, Lawrence.

IN 1963 – Members of the Riverside School District were to consider whether to merge with the Lawrence school system and how to deal with the city’s proposal to annex about 2,200 acres including the Riverside district.
