Network will tie teachers, students with the business community

The Lawrence Business Education Partnership is developing a Teacher Resource Network to connect teachers and students to the business community. The network is a resource for teachers on career speakers, student job and internship opportunities and field trips relating to the Lawrence business community.

The partnership needs a detail-oriented volunteer who likes interacting with people. Responsibilities include working with area businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Lawrence Arts Center Preschool got two new volunteers to assist teachers. More are still needed. To volunteer, call Linda Reimond at 843-2787.

Immediate volunteer needs

  • Hospice Care in Douglas County would like a volunteer to assist with development and production of its annual report and to work with its public relations committee on strategies for publicizing hospice services.   • Trinity Respite Care Inc. is having its annual “We Care Bear Fair” fund-raiser on April 19 and needs a volunteer assist with planning and marketing the event. Contact Teresa Martell at 842-3159.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters needs volunteers to participate in Bowl for Kids Sake. Volunteers ask for pledges and participate in bowling events Feb. 22, March 1-2 and April 5.
