Farm Bureau members on Thursday were at Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway, giving away bread and buying about 00 worth of groceries for selected individuals. The U.S. Agriculture Department estimated that by Thursday the average American had earned enough in 2003 to pay for their entire family's annual food supply. The department estimated an average family spends 10 percent of its disposable income on food.
