Suspect arrested on parole violation

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted by U.S. Marshals for a parole violation.

Robert Lee Whitney, 25, was arrested about 8 p.m. Wednesday at 2011 River Ridge Road, the department said.

He was on parole for bank robbery in an unknown location.

Baker offers library tours

Baldwin — Baker University will offer tours of its newly renovated Collins Library this weekend.

The tours, which will include technology-supported classrooms, stained glass windows and study areas, will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone interested in a tour should meet at the circulation desk near the main doors on the northeast corner of the building.

Reward offered for tips leading to arrest

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a Lawrence man.

Michael Allan Hodges, 32, is wanted by the Kansas Department of Corrections for violating his parole after being convicted of aggravated burglary.

Hodges is 6 feet 2 inches and weights 175 pounds.

Event to raise funds for Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood will have its eighth annual Chocolate for Choice fund-raising event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at the Lawrence Visitor Center, 402 N. Second St.

The Chuck Berg Trio will perform at the event, which features chocolate, wine, jazz, snacks and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Lawrence clinic of Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri.
