Bjorklund, Buffaloes crush Jayhawk women, 73-42

? Tera Bjorklund scored 18 points and picked up nine rebounds, helping Colorado defeat the Kansas University women’s basketball team, 73-42, Wednesday night.

Tamara Ransburg had 12 points and Erica Hallman added eight points and four assists for the Jayhawks (9-11, 2-7 Big 12 Conference), who were outshot 54 percent to 34 percent.

The Jayhawks matched up poorly against the Buffs (16-4, 6-3) in the first half and made just 7-of-23 shots from the field.

“It wasn’t a very good game for us, especially in the first half,” Kansas coach Marian Washington said. “I thought they played very aggressively, and I didn’t think we handled it very well, especially in that first half.”

Four of Colorado’s first five baskets were three-pointers, including two by Kate Fagan. CU made seven threes in the first half.

Kansas guard Blair Waltz played just two minutes Wednesday because of hip pain.

“She has a nerve in her hip that has kept her from putting any kind of pressure on it,” Washington said.
