Syracuse, N.Y. ? Silent for most of the game, Hakim Warrick scored eight points in a 90-second span midway through the second half Monday, leading No. 19 Syracuse (15-3, 6-2 Big East) to an 88-80 win over Georgetown (10-8, 2-6).

After consecutive 3-pointers by Gerald Riley and Tony Bethel gave the Hoyas a 56-55 lead at 12:27, Warrick woke up. Held to just three points through the first 30 minutes, he hit a jumper in the lane at 9:46 to give the Orangemen a 63-57 edge, then converted two three-point plays in a 28-second span to boost the lead to 69-59 with 8:16 left.

“I didn’t come to play the first half,” said Warrick, who also had seven rebounds. “I knew I was playing bad and wasn’t bringing it. I felt like I was letting my team down.”

Carmelo Anthony and Gerry McNamara each had 22 points to lead Syracuse.

As usual, the Hoyas relied on Mike Sweetney to carry the load, and he did with 32 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks.
