Joseph Edward ‘Bill’ Manwaring

? Services for Joseph Edward “Bill” Manwaring, 75, Richland, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, west of Richland.

Mr. Manwaring died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, near Richland in southwest Douglas County.

He was born May 20, 1927, in New Baden, Ill., the son of William and Corda Belle (Hudson) Manwaring. He moved from Topeka to the Richland area in 1958.

Mr. Manwaring worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka for 37 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of United Rubber Workers in Topeka.

He married Frances Ziegler in 1944. They later divorced. He married Alta A. Kiwitter in 1975. She died Feb. 11, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Billy, Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Connie Crockett, Norton, and Deborah McCullough, Harveyville; a stepson, Billy Hoffman, Osage City; four stepdaughters, Mary Bartley, Lebo, Anna Hoffman, Osage City, Saundra Davis, Carbondale, and Donna Smith, Reading; a companion, Audrey Maupin, Osage City; a brother, Jerry, Trenton, Ill.; two stepsisters, Melba Reinacher and Joann Steiner, both of Pocahontas, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
