Kansas University’s football program received commitments from four players on Monday, according to rivals.com.

Phil Tuihalamaka, a first team All-California junior-college tackle and an all-region selection, made an oral commitment to KU. The 6-foot-3, 305-pounder from San Bernadino Valley College didn’t have to search for information on Kansas. He is the cousin of Chris Maumalanga, a defensive tackle at KU from 1990 to 1993.

KU also received a commitment from Marcus Hicks, a 5-10, 175-pound cornerback who had six interceptions for Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Mark Brown, a 6-3, 180-pound cornerback from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla. Brown canceled a recruiting visit to Oklahoma after committing to Kansas, according to rivals.com.

Long snapper and center Zack Hood (6-4, 252) of Creston, Iowa, also has joined the Jayhawks’ recruiting class.

With signing day approaching on Wednesday, KU has 24 known oral commitments in addition to two players — Alfred State receiver Lyonel Anderson and Northeast Oklahoma center Joe Vaughn — who signed earlier and enrolled for the spring semester.
