Teresa E. Richling

? Services for Teresa E. Richling, 77, Horton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Horton. Burial will be at St. Leo’s Cemetery.

She died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, of breast cancer.

Mrs. Richling was born June 3, 1925, in Mercier, the daughter of John and Gertrude Schuetz Schaefer. She graduated from Powhattan High School in 1943.

She worked at Horton Community Hospital as a certified nurses aide. She retired in 1991 as ward clerk at Tri-County Manor.

She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Saturday night church choir and Our Lady’s Mantle Prayer Group, and for several years led the church’s Prayer Chain group.

She married Glenn Richling on Oct. 2, 1946, in Horton. He died July 3, 2002.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Swendson and Vickie Groshong, both of Horton, Phyllis Shannon, Hamlin, and Mary Richling, Lawrence; a son, Dale Richling, Lawrence; five brothers, Howard Schaefer and Leo Schaefer, both of Horton, Lloyd Schaefer, Effingham, Vernon Schaefer, Westboro, Mo., and Kenneth Schaefer, Tulsa, Okla; three sisters, Wilma Peregrine, Elmo, Mo., Thelma McGee and Rose Willis, both of Horton; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Two infant daughters, Glenda and Linda; an infant son, Bruce; a grandson and a great-granddaughter died earlier.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, where the family will receive friends afterward.
