Calvary Temple Assembly of God

Holy Communion will be observed Sunday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace. It is open to all Christians.

Evening services are canceled for New Year’s Eve.

First Christian Church

Tandy Reussner will be the guest organist Sunday at First Christian Church, 1000 Ky.

Linda Canaday, a soprano, will present special music, “Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion,” in the 9 a.m. traditional worship service.

Holly Beneventi will sing “Bethlehem Morning” at the 9 a.m. service and the 11 a.m. contemporary service.

PeaceWays testimonies for the church’s personal growth group, Making Peace with Our Past, will be presented at both services.

First Presbyterian Church

The Rev. Emilee Whitehurst, associate pastor, will lead the worship at the 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday services.

Her sermon, as the church enters the time after Christmas, will be “Being a People of Our Word.”

The youth group will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday. A Christmas party will be from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, featuring karaoke, movies and food.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church

The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, liturgies will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky.

Trinity Episcopal Church

Holy Eucharist will be celebrated with the Rev. Marc Lee at 8 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt.

Lee will also officiate at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service of Lessons and Carols, which will be followed by Holy Eucharist.

The Pastoral Care Team of Trinity will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the church library.

The church office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence

No service or program will be held Sunday at the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1263 N 1100 Road.

Services and programs will resume Jan. 4.

West Side Presbyterian Church

The Rev. Patricia Slider of Topeka will be filling the pulpit at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at West Side Presbyterian Church, 1204 Kasold Drive.

Lysette Van Pelt is the new choral director, and will be assuming her responsibilities this week at the church.

The annual meeting and potluck is scheduled for Jan. 25, following worship.
