Lois and Lew Llewellyn

Lois and Lew Llewellyn, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend with family and friends.

Lois Nieman and Lew Llewellyn were married Dec. 26, 1953, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Nortonville.

They met at Kansas State Teachers College, Pittsburg, where they both received degrees in education.

Lois continued her education at Kansas University, where she received an advanced degree in special education. They have lived in Lawrence since 1957.

Lew is retired from Haskell Indian Nations University. Lois is retired from Lawrence public schools.

The couple’s children are: Beth Llewellyn, Lexington, Ky.; Sally and Mike Kirkpatrick, Morgantown, W.Va.; Herb and Lori Llewellyn, McMinnville, Tenn.; Amy and Mark Wilson, Lawrence; and Matt and Becky Llewellyn, Olathe.

They have eight grandchildren.
