Denver ends KU’s 5-game win streak

? The Kansas University women’s basketball squad’s five-game winning streak came to a halt Sunday after a 69-63 loss to Denver University in the championship game of the Denver Tournament.

The Jayhawks (5-3) trailed by seven at halftime and by as many as 16 in the second half, but rallied to within five points with a late 9-1 run.

KU was forced to foul in the waning seconds, however, and couldn’t prevail.

Aquanita Burras scored 15 points and added nine rebounds for the Jayhawks. Crystal Kemp and Erica Hallman each added 14 points.

Junior Blair Waltz didn’t play because of flu symptoms.

The Jayhawks return to action Dec. 29-30 at the Dartmouth Classic with Fairfield, UNC Wilmington and host Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.
