Stabbing investigated

Lawrence Police are still trying to figure out what happened to a man who was found Tuesday night with a stab wound to his chest.

Dispatchers received a call from a woman who was driving her injured husband to the hospital.

Police were able to locate the car near Sixth and Mississippi streets, and the 37-year-old man was transported the rest of the way to the hospital by ambulance.

The victim was suffering from a puncture wound to the chest, but police said Wednesday they didn’t have enough information to determine whether he was the victim of any crime.

“We’re still trying to corroborate all the information that has been provided to us,” police spokesman Sgt. Mike Pattrick said.

Pattrick said the injury occurred at a mobile home in the 1900 block of East 19th Street just before 9 p.m.

Officers recovered a knife, but would not say where the weapon was found.
