Mary Eslick Cripe

Services for Mary Eslick Cripe, 82, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lawrence.

Mrs. Cripe died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 25, 1921, in Moro, Ark., the daughter of Charles and Nellie E. (St. John) Putman. She moved from Arkansas to Eudora in 1947. A few years later, she moved to Lawrence , then moved in 1989 to Linn County, where she lived in Mound City and then Pleasanton. She recently had moved to Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

Mrs. Cripe was a homemaker and member of Assembly of God Church while living in Lawrence. She was also a member of Pleasanton Assembly of God Church.

She married James E. Eslick in 1939 in Marianna, Ark. He died in 1953. She married Ira Daniel Cripe in 1954 in Lawrence. He died April 27, 1975.

An infant son, an infant daughter and two grandchildren also died earlier.

Survivors include two sons, John Eslick, Mound City, and Charles Richard Eslick, Osawatomie; two daughters, Nellie Grafke, Basehor, and Iris Wilde, De Forest, Wis.; a brother, Noah Putman, Berryville, Ark.; three sisters, Mavis Boorem, Bonner Springs, Cora McClanahan, Lawrence, and Robbie Wisdom, Eudora; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorials to Pleasanton Assembly of God Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
