James Lee Curry

? Services for James Lee Curry, 69, Wichita, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Mr. Curry died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born May 15, 1934, in Ottawa, the son of James “Jay” M. and Mary L. (Dow) Curry. He grew up in the Ottawa community and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1952. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Kansas University in 1957.

Mr. Curry served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 as a tank unit commander, then with the U.S. Army reserves. He was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant. Mr. Curry worked for Commercial Credit Corp. for eight years after the Army and then for Chrysler Credit Corp. for two years. He worked at Myer Nursery in Wichita for 30 years before he retired in 1997. He was a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He coached Little League teams in the Wichita area, and each year his teams won the Sportsmanship Award.

Survivors include a sister, Nancy L. Curry, Springfield, Mo., and a brother, Bill D., Ottawa.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
