Charley Black

? Memorial services for Charley Black, 79, Colbert, will be at 1 p.m. today at Johnson-Moore Chapel in Denison.

Mr. Black died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

He was born May 20, 1924, in Kim, the son of John William and Flossie Briles Black Smith. He attended public schools in Lawrence, Kan., and lived in Lawrence most of his life.

Mr. Black retired in 1982 as chief clerk for the MKT Railroad. He was a Methodist and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He married Sherla Majors on Nov. 20, 1948, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Barry, Denison; a daughter, Sandy Davis, McKinney, Texas; a brother, Frank, Joplin, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
