Wayne Simien practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day Tuesday and is questionable for tonight’s KU-Fort Hays State game.

Simien, Kansas’ 6-foot-9 junior power forward from Leavenworth, has a slightly strained groin, which he tweaked this week after slipping and doing the splits at practice on Thanksgiving.

“My thoughts are, I want him out there. He wants to be out there, but there’s no reason to put him out there in a situation where he can injure it more or something like that. We’ll be cautious,” KU coach Bill Self said Tuesday.

Asked whether he might sit Simien against the NCAA Div. II Tigers with Oregon on tap Saturday at Kemper Arena, Self said: “I don’t know. A lot depends on how he feels.”

Junior guard Keith Langford for the second straight day practiced without a wrap on his bruised left thumb. Langford fell hard on his left shooting wrist and thumb at practice last week. Langford played Saturday against Stanford with the hand wrapped. He said the thumb is fine.

Junior Michael Lee, who suffered a broken right collarbone at practice Nov. 28, said the target date for his return remained the Colorado game Jan. 5.
