Goldie A. Hess

Services for Goldie A. Hess, 78, Overland Park, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hess died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Indian Meadows Nursing Center, Overland Park.

She was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Summerfield, Neb., the daughter of Wilbur and Madie R. (Miller) Brouhard.

Mrs. Hess worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto, Independent Laundry and Kroger’s. She was past president and treasurer for Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

She married John J. Hess on March 29, 1942, in Ottawa. He survives, of Lawrence.

Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Brooks and Patricia Hackett, both of Lawrence; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Ronald Hess, and a grandson died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
