MEDICINE LODGE

Judge suspended

The state Supreme Court has suspended a Barber County magistrate judge accused of neglecting his work for three months.

Scott McGuire, a judge for 10 years, was suspended with pay and benefits pending a hearing before the Commission on Judicial Qualifications, said court spokesman Ron Keefover. No hearing date has been set.

A “notice of formal proceedings” filed against McGuire alleges that he neglected his work for three months beginning in June.

MURDOCK

Teenager crushed by oil pumping unit

A 17-year-old boy who likely was looking for a lost dog was crushed and killed by an oil pumping unit in southern Kansas, said Kingman County Sheriff Randy Hill.

Christopher E. Manjeot was found face down in the grass Thursday evening next to an oil pumping unit in rural Murdock, Hill said.

The Sheriff’s Office is ruling the death as accidental, but it still is awaiting results from an autopsy.
