Washburn University announces area students who are candidates for graduation in December. The fall commencement will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 in Lee Arena in the Petro Allied Health Center on campus. • Wallace Kennedy, Topeka, will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the main lounge of the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka. He was born Dec. 2, 1913. • Geoffrey Washburn, Lawrence, is a cadet in Syracuse University’s Army ROTC Stalwart Battalion. He competed in the Ranger Challenge Competition Oct. 18-19 at Fort Devens, Mass. His team placed third out of 26 teams in the competition.
• Ryan and Genevieve Crum, Killeen, Texas, announce the birth of a daughter, Alyssa Brooke, born Nov. 1, 2003, at Darnall Hospital in Killeen, Texas.
