University Theatre is midway through its run of “Lulu,” an 1895 sex tragedy that tells the story of a young woman who raises herself above her former life on the street only to fall back into its dark trap. The show runs through Sunday at the Inge Theatre.

For jollier, holiday-themed entertainment, Holiday Vespers returns to the Lied Center Saturday and Sunday for its 79th installment. The concert features KU vocal and musical ensembles and, of course, the ever-popular audience sing-a-longs.

At area high schools, Free State stages its fall musical “Fiddler on the Roof,” and the Lawrence High School Orchestra will perform Sunday to raise money for a trip to San Francisco.
