C. LaVerne Meyer

Mrs. Meyer died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at a hospice in Topeka.

She was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Valley Falls, the daughter of Leo and Grace Dora Faunce Ferrell. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1935. She had lived in Oskaloosa since 1952.

Mrs. Meyer was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Oskaloosa Church of Christ, Grayson Club and the Homemakers Club in Oskaloosa.

She married William T. Meyer on Nov. 16, 1936, in Hiawatha. He died March 20, 1989.

A daughter, Peggy Casey, and a foster son, George W. Meyer, also died earlier.

Survivors include two sons, William Leo Meyer, Oskaloosa, and Mark Thomas Meyer, Leawood; five daughters, Helen Sands, Meriden, Nancy Mills, Oskaloosa, Martha Massey, Topeka, June Schifflebien, Topeka, and Becky Brewer, Berryton; a sister, Lois Buddenbohm, Minehart, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
