Burglaries and thefts reported

• A 35-year-old woman was hit by a car early Thursday on the city’s south side. Veranda Miller was walking on the sidewalk on 23rd Street near the Half Price Book Store around 12:30 a.m. when she was struck by a 1993 Mazda driven by Austin Thomas Gangel, 20, police reports said. Miller was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, hospital staff said.
