Shores services

Ms. Shores died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

She was born March 29, 1936, in Hope, Ark., the daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Edwards) Whitmore. She attended Lawrence High School and studied for two years at Washburn University.

Ms. Shores was a homemaker and had worked as a certified nursing assistant in private duty in Topeka and Lawrence. She attended Community Church of God.

Survivors include four daughters, Sherry M. Smith, Lakeland, Fla., Tanya R. Smith, Hampton, Va., Sabrina L. Revely, Lawrence, and Denise D. Cooper, Lakeland; a son, Michael L. Smith, Lewisville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A niece whom she had raised, Cosandra G. Whitmore, died in 1988. A great-grandchild also died earlier.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
