Seattle utilityman to have second wrist surgery

? Mariners reserve infielder Greg Colbrunn needs a second surgery on his injured right wrist, and will miss the rest of the season.

Colbrunn had surgery July 15 to repair torn cartilage in his wrist. With the next operation, doctors will try to repair an injured tendon. No date was scheduled for the surgery.

Colbrunn was injured in June when he dived into a base while on a minor league rehabilitation assignment. At the time, he was on the disabled list because of a strained muscle on his right side.

In 22 games for the Mariners, he hit .278 with three homers and seven RBIs. He signed a two-year contract after hitting .333 with 10 homers and 27 RBIs in 72 games last season at Arizona.

“The second half of the year is where you might use him more, but we can’t look back,” manager Bob Melvin said. “I feel bad for him. He wants to be here and he wants to help. He’s just had an unfortunate injury that’s cost him most of the season.”
