Houston had problem with arrest

Alpharetta, Ga. — Whitney Houston angrily confronted officers as her husband, Bobby Brown, was arrested outside a seafood restaurant, police said.

Brown has been in jail since his Friday night arrest for violating his probation from an earlier drunken driving conviction. The R&B singer is scheduled for his first court appearance today.

“She was outwardly frustrated. She was upset. She was yelling and screaming and pointing fingers at one of our officers,” Sgt. Chris Lagerbloom said of Houston.

But he said officers didn’t consider charging the 40-year-old singer with disorderly conduct: “We deal with emotions like that from family members all the time.”

Another day, another lawsuit

New York — A Queens woman has filed a $5 million lawsuit against rapper-producer Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, claiming a bouncer at his Manhattan restaurant threw her to the ground and dragged her on the pavement.

Stephanie Grieson, 35, says that while she was standing outside Justin on Aug. 22, 2002, she and a friend began fighting. That’s when the bouncer grabbed her by the neck and dragged her down the sidewalk, saying: “No fighting in front of this restaurant.”

Grieson said she suffered wounds on both knees, which were swollen for days, and that scars remained on her legs and ankles. The lawsuit seeks damages to cover lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering and future plastic surgery.

Earlier this month, two men sued Combs for $25 million each, claiming a security team at his recording studio attacked them.

Ripa loves Reege

New York — Kelly Ripa says she’s tired of the rumors that she and her “Live With Regis and Kelly” co-host Regis Philbin don’t get along.

“There are two men in my life I’ve never fought with. One is my husband, the other is my co-host,” Ripa told Lifetime magazine for its September issue. “Every day before we go on the air, we tell each other, ‘I’m really glad I’m here.’

“It’s our moment together,” she continued. “I adore Regis. He’s given me so much. My quality of life has improved drastically. He took me under his wing and made this an easy transition for me.”

They even have nicknames for each other: She calls Philbin “Big Daddy” and Philbin calls her “Pipa.”

Baby would make three

Los Angeles — Angelina Jolie is reportedly set to adopt another child, after spending time investigating the possibility on a goodwill mission for the U.N. in Russia, reports IMDB.com.

The Oscar-winning actress spent hours in talks with adoption authorities and also visited a children’s hospital on the trip.

Jolie is the mother of 2-year-old Maddox, whom she adopted from Cambodia, and she has previously spoken of her desire to adopt more needy kids. “I prefer to adopt,” she said. “With every adoption I save a further child from the orphanage. That’s the way I see it.”
