Olive Marie Weatherby Jackson

Services for Olive Marie Weatherby Jackson, 95, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born March 4, 1908, in Lawrence, the daughter of Edmond S. and Katherine (Rheinhardt) Weatherby. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School at age 16 and from Kansas University at age 20, majoring in home economics. She received her master’s degree in education from Columbia University.

Mrs. Jackson taught home economics at Piper High School in Kansas City, Kan. She was a lifelong active member of First United Methodist Church and was in charge of the “Cradle Roll” for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader and member of La Sertoma Club and Ladies Literary League.

She married Forrest A. Jackson in 1934. He died in 1970.

Survivors include a son, Gene Weatherby Jackson, Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Janet Jackson Nicholson, Bellevue, Wash.; a sister, Katherine Smith, Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or the Good Samaritan Fund at Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of the funeral home.
