Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A law firm in the 800 block of Louisiana Street reported $2,779 worth of loss and damage from a burglary and theft that occurred at 7:11 a.m. Thursday. A laptop computer was taken and $600 worth of damage was done to the offices of Petefish Immel Heeb & McRae LLP, police reports said.
  • A 61-year-old man reported a mislaid wallet and $1,380 in currency taken sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday in the city at large, according to a report.

Injury accidents

  • A 74-year-old Lawrence man was in fair condition Thursday night at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after suffering injuries in a two-car collision shortly before noon at the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Crossgate Drive. Ted T. Howell made a left turn in his Toyota Corolla in front of a Buick driven by Joshua W. Heller, 22, Yates Center, according to a report. A Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crew took Howell to the hospital, and police cited him for failure to yield, according to a report.
