Patti services

Memorial services for Charles A. Patti, 73, Lawrence, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Private graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Patti died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Select Specialty Hospital in Topeka.

He was born Aug. 25, 1929, the son of James and Violet Long Patti. He graduated from East High School, Kansas City, Mo., in 1946.

Mr. Patti played baseball on the championship team of the Kansas City Ban Johnson League in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; he served in the Korean War and played on the Navy all-star baseball team.

He moved from Kansas City, Mo., to Lawrence in 1955. He co-owned and operated Patti Shoe Service from 1955 until he retired in 1991. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Alvamar Golf Club and American Legion Post No. 14. He coached Jaycee’s South Park Baseball for boys ages 13 to 15.

He married Sandra Lee on July 27, 1974, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Sheldon and Kristine Craig, both of Lawrence, and Shana Wilkey, Fremont, Neb.; a brother, James, Lawrence; a sister, Antoinette “Pat” Peine, Raytown, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the funeral chapel.
